Welcome Beth, our new Advocacy Worker in Rochdale!

Why Early Break?
Hello, I’m Beth! I started working for Early Break at the beginning of April. I’ve worked with young people now for four years. My first job was working with young people in a care home and my second job was working with young homelessness people on the preventative side. When I was younger I always wanted to be a police officer so I went to university to study criminology and sociology, however whilst I was there I found a passion for young people who needed support and guidance in their lives.

Since starting Early Break I have already learnt so much and whilst researching/listening to fellow colleagues my eyes have been opened into the difficulties young people face in society and/or at home when it comes to substance misuse. I came to Early Break as a challenge for myself, I wanted to work with young people and support them into making positive changes in their lives. I want to learn new skills when it comes to drugs and alcohol work and put this into practice with the young people I will be working with. I am looking forward to getting stuck in! I am also looking forward to learning acupuncture and acupressure, this will be a great skill and also something I can use on my own family and friends.

In my spare time I like to watch football, in my family you don’t get choice of who to support, you have to be a red. However since I was a teenager I have had a season ticket for Rochdale and let me tell you, it’s not easy being a dale fan! I also like to go to the gym and keep myself active and fit; I also do this by going on walks. You cannot beat a bit of fresh air! Besides this I also love listening to music, Courteeners are my favourite band and I make it my mission to see them at least once a year!

So yeah, that’s a little bit about me. Here’s to the next chapter!
